The purpose of the Education Commission has the
responsibility to identify the religious education needs of the entire parish
and to formulate long range plans for meeting those needs. They are to
work with the religious education staff in developing and implementing programs
to meet these needs. Members of the commission are to be knowledgeable of
the educational programs and policies of the local public and private schools,
and in particular, of the local Catholic schools and the diocesan governing
these.
Functions:
To identify the educational needs of the entire parish and to communicate the results of such needs to the Parish Pastoral Council.
To formulate goals and objectives in terms of the prioritized educational needs of the parish community.
To develop programs to implement these goals and objectives, working in collaboration with the parish professional education personal.
To be knowledgeable of the various parish educational programs and activities and to collaborate with other council commissions in education related matters.
To cooperate with and support the parish professional education staff engaged in various facets of parish education (school principal, director of religious education, teachers, etc.)
To be knowledgeable of diocesan and local public system educational goals and policies, and to facilitate parish involvement in such matters.
