The parish operations are run with minimal staff, lots of volunteers, monetary donations, and many prayers. Thank you for taking time to look at the available opportunities of volunteering your time and all the ways you can donate monetarily to support St. Joseph Parish. Volunteer for

Faith Formation

There are many ways to Volunteer in the St. Joseph Faith Formation program. Every class has a main teacher who leads the instruction of the class and an assistant who attends each class and helps with the students. If you are not wanting to teach but still want to be involved a classroom assistant may be just the place for you.

The classrooms are on the second floor so you would need to be able to walk a flight of stairs. To learn more about helping with the faith formation program, please see the Volunteer page under the Faith Formation menu. Faith formation runs from September - April each year.

Volunteer for Councils or Commissions

There are many ways you can volunteer to help the St. Joseph Parish through councils and commissions: Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Parish Activities, Vocation Commission, Stewardship Commission. To learn more about each group, please see the Councils and Commissions page for a description of each ministry and how you can volunteer.

Ordinary Giving vs. Extraordinary Giving

Ordinary Gifts: are the weekly collection and loose collections. They help pay for the day to day operation and keep the parish mission and the lights on.

Extraordinary gifts: For example: Estate gifts, Capital Campaign, Restricted gifts for specific project or purchase, memorial gifts, Yearend gifts. These help fund bigger projects and help with any budget shortfall.

Adult Education Classes

There is also a Adult Faith Formation class available multiple times a week during the school year. By learning more about your faith you grow a deeper relationship with Christ. Having strong people of faith helps make our parish thrive.

On Wednesdays class normally meet in the parish office on Wednesday evening from 6:30 - 7:30 PM and run all year long. This is the same time as K-8 faith formation during the school year.

Fr. Fred Bible Basics

On Thursdays over lunch during the school year, Fr. Fred teaches his brown bag Bible basics class. He picks a book to cover that goes through a book of the bible. This is a popular and well attended class. Class normally starts in September and ends in May of each year. Check the bulletin and the parish home page for more information during August and September of each year.

Special Giving Opportunities during the year

An endowment account is held at Heartland Community Foundation (HCF). They have matching funds available mid September until the event the beginning of October during GiveFest around the 10th of October. The date fluctuates from year to year. Payment for GiveFest are paid directly to HCF with St. Joseph Church Hays in the memo line.

iGiveCatholic happens in November/December and has matching funds available. iGiveCatholic is held on Give Tuesday which is the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. The campaign starts two and a half weeks before Give Tuesday. These funds collected help the parish with budget shortfalls.

Yearend gifts are a blessing to the parish. These also help with budget shortfalls and funding parish repairs.

THANK YOU!

We know you have many options in Hays. We appreciate that you pick St. Joseph Parish to be your parish.

We appreciate your prayers, your volunteer hours, and your monetary support. We need all three to thrive.

May God bless you and your family for generosity with the parish.
